Still Their Pastor
Sen.-elect Adam Hamilton will keep leading his Kansas church at quarter-time, and we pray for every leader who carries more than one calling.
Public office and pastoral care are rarely held in the same hands. Hamilton's church is drawing a clear line: Senate votes stay with the Senate office, and the pulpit stays the pulpit. That kind of boundary is a gift. It reminds us that a new assignment does not erase the old one, and that calling is not a ladder of more important work replacing lesser work.
Whether we lead a church, a classroom, a kitchen table, or a committee, faithfulness looks like showing up where God planted us and keeping the roles honest. We can thank God for pastors who keep tending the flock, and pray for every leader asked to carry more than one weight at once.
A prayer for this weekLord, thank you for pastors and leaders who keep serving your people when new doors open. Give Adam Hamilton wisdom, humility, and clear boundaries as he prepares to serve Kansas and continue shepherding Resurrection. Strengthen every church whose pastors carry more than one calling. Help each of us tend the work you have given us with whole hearts, for your glory and not our own. Amen.
One thing to do: Pray this week for your pastor by name, and for one public servant who also follows Christ. Then write a short note of thanks to a ministry leader who keeps showing up for your church while carrying other responsibilities.
